Our New Opening: Rocco Forte Hotels Travels to Naples

Rocco Forte Hotels

It has been said that Rome is the heart of Italy, but Naples is its soul. A bastion of chaotic beauty, it buzzes with an energy that is truly Italian and yet, distinctly Neapolitan. Layered with architectural grandeur, Italy’s third-largest city is renowned for its vibrant artistic scenes, historic hotspots, and some of the best beaches in the region. Perhaps best known as the birthplace of pizza, it is soon to be home to an exciting new opening from Rocco Forte Hotels.

Situated in the stunning Palazzo Caravita di Sirignano on the Riviera di Chiaia, a charming boulevard running close to the waterfront, the hotel is expected to open in 2027. Built in 1535, Palazzo Sirignano can lay claim to being the first Palazzo in the area, and was once home to noble dynasties including the Bourbons – who ruled over Naples for close to a century – and the Prince of Sirignano.

Under the expert hands of world-renowned architect Michele Bönan, Palazzo Sirignano will be sensitively restored to its original grandeur and will include 46 spacious suites, a rooftop pool – with panoramic views that are so far-reaching, you’ll be able to see Capri – two restaurants, generous private gardens, a bar, and a large spa.

Inspired by the Grand Tour, which saw the heirs of aristocratic families travel to Europe, and Italy in particular, to broaden their educational horizons, and a Neapolitan dandy-esque lifestyle, guests can look forward to stylish interiors, brimming with luxuriant touches, and the joy of the unexpected. As Oscar Wilde, one of the original dandies, put it so succinctly: “I have the simplest of tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.” A palace just as much as a hotel, visitors will feel as if they’re guests of the Prince of Sirignano.

Externally, expect lush, manicured gardens – the perfect place for an after-dinner stroll, walking in the same footsteps as the nobles of old – before relaxing in the bar with a nightcap. The rooftop pool, and its promise of sparkling views over the Bay of Naples towards the imposing Mount Vesuvius, will be

Your new neighbourhood

In Naples, history unfolds around every corner. Literally on your doorstep sits the Museo Pignatelli, an exquisite house museum showcasing historic Neapolitan life behind its many-pillared facade. A little further afield, wander through the Pio Monte della Misericordia to admire Caravaggio's masterful "Seven Acts of Mercy."  Witness the ethereal beauty of Sanmartino's "Veiled Christ'' at Cappella Sansevero, then delve into the ancient world at the vast Archaeological Museum. A stone’s throw from the museum sits Madre, one of the city’s top modern art galleries, housing the likes of Jeff Koons and Anish Kapoor.

The historic city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site and still follows the same street plan of the ancient Greek city, Neapolis. There is a whole other world to explore underground, with organised tours of the labyrinth of tunnels that lie beneath the city. Looming over it all, the shadowy Mount Vesuvius beckons. Hike to its crater for breathtaking views or savour Lacryma Christi wine, grown on the volcano's slopes.  And just south of Naples, the Pompeii and Herculaneum ruins offer a glimpse into a frozen moment in time.

Our first hotel in Naples will perfectly complement our existing Italian properties in Rome, Florence, Sicily and Puglia. It joins our previously announced new openings – the Carlton Milan, Rocco Forte House in Milan, and a stunning resort in Sardinia.
