Bruges
Capital of West Flanders, Bruges distinguishes itself with its canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Before living the city, make sure to visit the Venice of the North by boat.
Zeebrudge, its port, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views. Bruges is known both for its lace, and its beers. Brewed in the city in the De Halve Maan Brewery, you can visit the brewery and even taste the readily-made beers.
