Hotel de Rome's passionate commitment to sustainability, together with contemporary luxury, has now been officially recognised by the German Institute for Sustainability & Economics and has received the “Sustainability Certification 2024” seal of approval.
As part of the certification process, comprehensive audits were carried out in the areas of ecology, economy and social responsibility.

For your next reservation, make your stay a climate-friendly one. All you have to do is select the surcharge option of €2 per night and guest. Doing so offsets the carbon dioxide emissions from your hotel stay, determined by the German Institute for Sustainability & Economy.
Your donation will be sent directly to myclimate, a non-profit organisation with a portfolio of climate protection projects. Its worldwide environmental initiatives make a positive impact on sustainable development. Projects vary from creating natural habitats through sustainable forest management to providing fresh drinking water in Uganda.

Our chosen sustainability partner, myclimate, works with scientific experts to offer climate protection solutions on a global and local level. myclimate has developed and supported over one hundred climate protection projects worldwide since its foundation in 2002.
Its pioneering forest adaptation project in Germany is one example. By restoring native ecosystems across Bavarian State Forests, myclimate has helped to establish a mixed forest that is climate tolerant. Projects like these require investment and that is where we come in. By staying with us and supporting myclimate you will be playing an integral part in these vital initiatives.
Support given via our climate-friendly stays goes towards individual myclimate projects. Transparent and accountable, details of their projects are made public using the UN’s guidance for Sustainable Development Goals.
Your climate-friendly stay helps provide fresh and clean drinking water in Uganda.
Together with your generous help, our partner, myclimate is at the helm of a vitally important project improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and families.
More than 210,000 pupils in Uganda benefit from the water purification systems myclimate has and continues to install. School children not only have access to a plentiful supply of safe drinking water but the project also reduces the need for single use plastic bottles.
In a country where 40 per cent of the population boils water for purification, removing the need to do so protects vast areas from deforestation. It also reduces CO2 emissions by lowering the use of non-renewable firewood and charcoal as fuel.
Water purification is done in a variety of ways through myclimate’s project – via solar powered water treatment devices, electric ultraviolet purification units and filters. With the dual benefits towards health and the environment, safe water also saves families time and funds that would otherwise be required to collect or buy firewood.
