The Oratory

The Oratory, built between 1544 and 1547, features 16th-century frescoes depicting the 'Stories of the Passion of Christ' painted between 1569 and 1576 by artists like Federico Zuccari, Cesare Nebbia, and Livio Agresti. The frescoes, covering the walls, depict twelve episodes from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection, following the ideals of the Catholic Counter-Reformation. Due to the quality of the artwork, it’s known as the 'Sistine Chapel of Roman Mannerism.' A private visit with a guide and art historian is available, and upon request, a private concert can be arranged inside.
