The Mysteries of Palermo
Palermo is home to an array of extraordinary castles, gardens, catacombs and churches. On this tour, you’ll marvel at some of the capital's most unusual monuments including The Zisa castle which was built as King William I’s private summer residence, originally surrounded by vast gardens depicting Arabic influences. Next on the tour, the Capuchin Catacombs are not for the faint hearted, comprising an astonishing display of 8,000 mummies dressed in their best Sunday clothes, many of them hanging from the walls. The day concludes with a visit to the Spasimo; once a church now transformed into a wonderful open air theatre. A symbol of Palermo's renaissance, the Spasimo is located in the pulsating heart of the Kalsa area, the old Arabic quarter, and a fantastic location to enjoy an aperitivo after your day of sightseeing.
